Basset Bowl - Food / Water Bowl for Dogs with Long Ears (Made to Order)
My Bassett Bowl holds Food or Water for your pet and is designed especially for dogs with long, floppy ears...because your precious pup should eat and drink from something beautiful and made with love.
My Basset Bowls were designed originally at the request of a customer who loves the quality of my bowls, but needed something special for their Basset Hound puppy to keep those adorable ears from falling into his bowl. I designed this bowl with inward slanting walls, so your pup's ears can hang down the side while s/he eats or drinks, without getting into the bowl itself.
My bowls are heavier than they look, because I leave a little extra clay in the bottom so they stay put and can't be tipped over easily. Their wide base means they don't tip over easily.
SIZING:
Large Bowl - Aprrox: 8" bottom diameter and 5" deep, with top diameter of about 6" for your pup's snout
Sm/Med - Approx: 6" bottom diameter and about 3.5" deep, with top diameter of about 4" for your pup's snout
Custom sizes and depths are available, please just ask!
COLORS: I can glaze these in the same Speckled White, Light Speckled Blue, Mottled Blue/Green, Cobalt Blue, Teal or Black glazes I use for my traditional pet bowls and slow feeders. THIS LISTING IS FOR GLAZED / MADE TO ORDER ITEMS: I try to keep some pre-bisqued in stock, but if they've sold out your order can take up to 5 weeks to ship. Please ask if you're in a hurry!
SAFETY: I use certified non-toxic clay and the same 100% lead-free, hand-mixed glazes I use on my people pottery to ensure your pet's safety. The bottoms of my bowls are wet sanded with 50-100-200-400 grit diamond sanding pads to protect your floor surfaces. The glazes and the bowls themselves are extremely durable.
CLEANING: While they can be placed in the dishwasher, hand-washing is always recommended for handmade pottery. Unlike plastic, a glazed ceramic surface is really remarkably easy to clean by hand.
HEATING: You can also microwave in my bowls or place them in the oven; please just use appropriate precautions when offering warmed food to your pet because stoneware retains heat and microwaves can heat food unevenly.

Dog Food Bowl
Care Instructions
My BanditBowls are handcrafted from stoneware for durability. With proper care, they will last for many years. Please wash them before use.
The durable glazes are safe for the dishwasher, but the ceramic surface is easy to clean by hand. Because dishwashers can be dangerous places for handmade goods, I recommend hand washing with occasional santizing in the dishwasher.
My bowls are also microwavable and oven safe! Be careful that the bowl itself is not hot before offering the contents to your pet, though.
The bottoms are heavy and designed to minimize movement while your pet eats. The bottoms are wet sanded smooth with 50-100-200-400 grit Diamond Sanding pads to protect your floor or counter surface. Many customers affix rubber feet to the bottom of the bowl for their pets who aggressively try to knock the bowl around. This works well, but does void my return policy. :-)

Bandit Bowl Sizing Recommendations
Volume measurements below indicate the amount of food that will fit within the interior grooves, as this is how the BanditBowl is designed to work best. More food can be layered atop the grooves if you wish.
- Cat Bowl - One Size Fits Most - Holds approx. 3/4 cup of food
- Toy Breed Dog Bowl - Holds approx. 1/2 cup of food
- Small/Medium Breed Dog Bowl - Holds approx. 1 cup of food
- Large Breed Dog Bowl - Holds approx. 2 cups of food
- Giant Breed Dog Bowl - Holds approx. 3 cups of food
- Giant Breed X-Deep Bowl - Grooves are 3/4" to 1" deep - Holds approx. 4 cups of food
Note: For dogs with shorter snouts and wide heads, upsizing one size is generally recommended as this helps to accomodate their anatomical features.
Interior grooves in the Bandit Bowl range from 3/16" deep (cat) and 1/4" to 1/2" deep (dog), with larger bowls having deeper interior grooves. As each are handmade, we can customize groove depth to accomodate special needs. Contact us for more details, and include a photo of your pet so we can help determine if a custom bowl is necessary.
