Our campground review provides honest, factual information and images to help other campers decide if Eastbank Campground near Bainbridge, GA will suit their individual camping preferences. We try to be impartial, but our campground reviews are based on the way we experience a specific campground during our stay, and are influenced by our individual preferences for camping.
The Park: Eastbank campground is a Core of Engineers Class A campground with 65 tent and RV sites. The campground overlooks Lake Seminole and the Jim Woodruff Dam. The campground was very busy during our stay, with campers staying over for two to four nights on average, but things were still relatively quiet and everyone was super friendly.

Facilities at the campground include two bathhouses with flush toilets and showers. The larger of the two bathrooms is located at the entrance to Loop B and is used by the majority of the campers. It offers separate lavatories for men and women and four additional private shower facilities.

The smaller bathhouse is located at the back of Loop B and has integrated showers and lavatories in the same spaces, as well as a laundromat in the rear with one washer and one dryer. At the time of our visit, laundry was free but the dryer was out of service. There were no objections to clotheslines in the site, provided the hanging mechanism did not damage any trees or park property.

The central dumpster is easily accessible from all campground loops, and there’s a dump station near the exit.

Getting Around: The park is small and the roads are paved. The terrain is hilly but walkable. A boat dock is located at one end of the campground, and it’s about a 1 mile walk to the Jim Wooduff Dam from the opposite side of the campground.

Activities: Fishing seemed popular during our stay, and each site comes complete with a fish cleaning table. There is also a fish cleaning station located on the main road heading toward the gate. There is a short, .3 mile wooded hiking trail behind the laundromat.

There is also a horseshoe pit and a volleyball/badminton net; equipment is available at the entry gate.

Campsites: Each site has water and electric (no sewer), as well as a picnic table, a separate table for cleaning fish, and a trash pole. Some sites are gravel, others have concrete pads. There are beautiful tall pines in the campground, but most sites have little (if any) vegetation separating them from their neighbors. We felt like the sites on loops A and B were a bit larger than most on Loop C.
Waterfront sites are available on Loop C and Loop A; if you score one of those you’ll be trekking further to get to the bathhouse. From Loop A, there is a staircase at one end leading up to the bathhouse (about 10 or 12 steps, although I didn’t count), or you can walk the long way on pavement without stairs. From Loop C, it’s an uphill paved walk to the bathhouse.

OUR RATING: 3.5 stars
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️+3/4 ⭐️’s
We find Core of Engineer parks to be well-designed and laid out with excellent infrastructure. The facilities at Eastbank were as expected, and we give the campground 3 and 3/4 stars in our campground review. Campers were friendly, the staff was congenial, and the sunsets over Lake Seminole were beautiful. We deducted points for condition of the bathhouses, lack of activities, and lack of hiking trails, all things that are important to us as snowbirds who stay primarily in the campground during our stays. We added back points for value. The bathhouses, while not pretty, serve their purpose well. The showers had plenty of hot water, good water pressure and ample room to maneuver. The bathhouse facilities needed a good pressure washing at the time of our visit, but they were maintained and stocked regularly with necessities. We normally stay at Core parks for just 3 nights, but we stayed at Eastbank for ten nights to offset the cost of some higher priced campgrounds on our route this season. We took advantage of the 50% America the Beautiful discount for seniors, and - for the money (especially at $14/night with the discount) - this campground is a great value. Bring a deck of cards and a few board games, and you’ll be happy you visited! Just maybe plan to stay for a week or less.

ABOUT US: We are snowbirds who escape our Southeastern Pennsylvania’s chilly winters in our Class A Winnebago Vista 31BE motorhome with our two pups, Bandit & Oakley, for 4 to 6 months at a time. Our pups love the outdoors, but don’t always love each other, so we spend most of our time in the campground with them. For that reason, and because they generally suit our $40/night budget, we favor state and national parks with plenty of outdoor space to explore and keep the pups sufficiently tuckered.
