How do you incorporate handmade in your home decor? I was recently asked that question by Redfin Realty, and - you guessed it - my answer had everything to do with pottery! My tips are included in their recent blog post (scroll down for a link), so be sure to check it out.

Merri Klar, an Etsy customer, shared with me this gorgeous photograph of the countertop compost bin I recently made for her. In her review, Merri says, "This ceramic compost crock is like a mini work of art sitting by my sink." Those words are music to this maker's heart, Merri! Thank you!
I feel like Merri's photograph shows how a simple piece of pottery can transform the everyday moment of collecting compost for your garden into a moment of reflection and beauty. You won't be surprised to learn that Merri is a creative herself, and she clearly enjoys surrounding herself with handmade items that make her home more inviting and beautiful. My mission as a potter is to make your everyday moments beautiful, and I do that by creating pots of purpose that provide both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Handmade pots (mine and those made by others) enrich my everyday life. When I use them, I feel a magical connection to the maker, many of whom are friends that my work as a Ceramic Artist have brought into my life. This makes the experience of using their pieces that much more meaningful and fills my heart with joy and love each and every time!
Redfin reached out to artists nationwide and got some great tips on how to incorporate handmade in your own home. Here are a few of my favorite tips:
- Museum Putty! I have pots, and I have dogs (enough said!)
- A Mug Menu! Start every day special by choosing from a menu of handmade pottery mugs for your morning coffee or tea, and your day can't help but be off to a great start!
- Perhaps my favorite tidbit of advice came from Donald Martiny, who suggests that "finding the right piece of art to live with is much like finding a lover." So, so true!

Really Apprictatable! The way you highlights the charm and uniqueness that handmade decor brings to a home. As a fellow artisan, I completely resonate with the joy of crafting pieces that add warmth and individuality to any space.
Incorporating handmade decor adds a personal touch to your home. My favorite tips include using museum putty to secure pieces safely and creating a "mug menu" for joyful morning rituals. The idea of finding art like a soulmate resonates deeply, reminding us of the emotional connections behind handmade items. Check out more at decor Glow
